I am from the Tódichíinii (Bitter Water) and Táchii’nii (Red Streak Running into the Water) and French/Irish. I wear multiple hats, including co-founder and artist director of IndigenousWays, certified American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter, musician, and writer. I was surrounded with life in the ‘old ways;’ herding sheep, cooking outdoors, climbing rocks at play, or looking for lost sheep, and so much more; I was also entertained with books and often escaped my circumstances and got lost in other worlds with books on the mountain. The benefits: I learned to read well and to write creatively. Since those formative years, I have been blessed to give writing a hand in most genres. Currently, I am writing fiction and poetry. Masani’s lifelong values of service shaped the course of my creative life and work.
