The Jemez Mountains of New Mexico is where I grew up and where I learned to carve stone beginning at age 3 with my father, Rollie Grandbois, my mentor and teacher. As a toddler, I crawled around the dusty studio, picking up stone scraps, filing, and sanding them into my favorite images. I marketed my sculptures through my father’s gallery (Grandbois Sculpture Studio & Gallery) and by participating in the annual Santa Fe Indian Market. In 1996, at age 5, I won an award for my sculpture, “Star over the Moon”, and continued to win awards from 1996 through 2008.
