Julie's work often depicts images inspired by her culture and the natural landscape of the Turtle Mountains where she grew up. They are reflective of her and her experiences as a Native American women.
In 2015 during her fellowship, Julie was able to have her first ever art exhibit at the Heart of the Turtle Gallery in Minot. "She does ink and acrylic pieces, that take the viewer on a special journey." Since gaining the specialized business and professional development training that First Peoples Fund offered, she says, "I feel that I have grown stronger in my confidence as an artist. I also feel that I have grown with the new experiences, such as having my first show. My Knowledge has grown in that I have learned what my limitations are and am now looking for ways to surpass them. I think that I have also have been growing stronger on a personal level as well."
