Bobby Brower (Itta) is Inupiaq and is an enrolled member of the Native Village of Barrow tribe in Utqiagvik, Alaska. She lives and works from home in Anchorage, Alaska. She specializes in one-of-a- kind pieces that are hand-made by the artist herself, while also designing ready to wear fashions. She also owns a fur business, which helps supply other skin sewers.
Bobby learned to skin sew at the age of 13 in her traditional language class. She was also raised in a family that subsistence hunted year round and was surrounded by traditional skin sewers.
She started her custom clothing business in 2010, Bobby has exhibited her work in fashion shows in Alaska, New Mexico, Canada, and New York. She also teaches sewing classes over zoom and in person. She promotes her work because she wants to inspire the youth to keep their traditions and culture alive for generations to come.
