Portrait of Ryan Parker, Northern Cheyenne. First Peoples Fund's Regional Program Manager of Community Development.

BIOGRAPHY

Ryan brings with him 12 years of non-profit experience, with five of those years running two individual development account (IDA) programs. Ryan also spent a year serving as an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer at the Native American Youth and Family Center (NAYA) in Portland.

An enrolled member of the Northern Cheyenne tribe in Montana, Ryan grew up a few miles south of Lame Deer. His childhood home had the best view of the tribe’s powwow grounds, and the tribe’s annual powwow exposed him to Native arts and culture at an early age.  A resident of Portland for 21 years, Ryan lives with his son Souma and their black Labrador retriever Hazel Nunchucks. They enjoy regular trips to the Oregon coast, going to local powwows and Native events, and watching Portland Trail Blazers games.
