BIOGRAPHY

Kinyaa'aanii' nisli' Tl'aaschi'i' ba' shischiiin." Bridget Skenadore is born for the Towering House people and born into the Red Cheek Clan and she is from a small town called Chinle, Arizona and currently resides in Colorado. Bridget is Diné and a proud member of the Navajo Nation. Bridget has a sincere passion for working in the field of Native arts and culture and understands the importance of Native arts and the significance it plays to Native peoples and tribal communities. In her previous job, Bridget worked closely with tribal colleges and universities by supporting them as they build up Native arts capacity through curriculum development and enhancement and by supporting community engagement through community-based programming for students and community members to learn or increase their knowledge about their culture, history and language through Native arts. Bridget wants to continue to champion  the importance of Native arts and culture through creativity, innovation, imagination, curiosity and cultural representation for Native peoples and tribal communities as we navigate this modern world through our own artistic expressions.

Bridget obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Fort Lewis College in Fine Arts with a minor in Art History. She holds a master’s degree from the Rhode Island School of Design in art and Design Education and has a certificate of Native American Art History from the Institute ofAmerican Indian Arts.

In her spare time, Bridget enjoys creating and engaging in creativity, she works in various mediums including watercolor painting, charcoal drawing, photography, beading and sewing. Bridget has shown work in Providence, RI, Durango, CO, Denver, CO and Phoenix, AZ.
