Ahnawake Toyekoyah

My name is Ahnawake Dahn Toyekoyah. I am a 26-year-old Cauigu (Kiowa) from Oklahoma, and I proudly represent the Caddo, Delaware, Seminole, Blackfeet, Kickapoo, Klamath, Shasta, and Pit River tribes. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Environmental Science from Haskell Indian Nations University.For me, art is more than just expression; it's a profound connection to my roots and a celebration of diverse Indigenous cultures. My work often features my friends, family, and monumental moments in Indian Country. From a young age, art has always been my sanctuary, a place where words may fail but my creativity thrives.I specialize in ledger art, acrylic paintings, digital art, and other mediums, aiming to bring my thoughts and dreams to life. Through my ledger art, I tell stories that blend traditional narratives with contemporary themes, reflecting the resilience and beauty of Indigenous cultures. My goal is to create pieces that resonate with my community and beyond, honoring the past while inspiring future generations.
