About

I am T.J. Keanu Tario (Laritza Labouche), native of Nuʻuanu, Hawaiʻi. A Juilliard-trained classical pianist, film composer, and cultural practitioner by day, and fabulous drag performer by night. A multifaceted Kanaka Maoli artist, that meshes composition, piano performance, and drag within the identity of my Hawaiian Culture. As an all-around artist, I have had to embody a variety of talents at a very high level. As a visual artist; I have used drawing & graphic arts, the art of makeup, design, producing, and Lei Hulu. Past performances this season include performing the Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 2 in C-minor in drags with the Hawaiʻi Symphony Orchestra, and through the Native Arts & Cultures Foundation LIFT fellowship premiered Ballet “E aha ia ana ʻO Mauna Kea” at LCC Theatre - a work that brings continued awareness to the Protect Mauna Kea movement & Aloha ʻĀina. 2024 Exhibit includes the 8x8: Source Exhibit at the Shangri La Museum, Doris Duke Foundation. After workshopping my Hawaiian musical based on the imprisonment of Queen Liliʻuokalani, at USC in the School of Dramatic Arts, it was a Eugene O’Neil Musical Theatre conference finalist - currently in the process of editing and professionally being workshopped.
