About

My teachings are getting more of our young and older folks interested in our cultural Ways so that our Ways continue to survive even after l am gone. Many folks these days have no one to teach them these cultural, spiritual Ways of our people. Practicing these Ways connects me to my community. I learned many things from my mother like dressmaking for our deceased ones and the spiritual ceremony that accompanies it. I am one of the few people left with this knowledge to be called on for males and females. When my mother passed on, I continued sharing the knowledge l gained from her to the young and older folks who want to learn from me. Only certain folks get that calling for certain things. It has to be coming from within. You must be very careful while gaining our cultural knowledge. It chooses you, you do not choose it. If a person does not follow set standards and practices they can become very ill.

"Adeline has shared of herself, unselfishly. She is active in the community today and that is very complementary to our community," said Rosalind "Teminsh" Sampson.
